Two new Councillors join Barnet’s Cabinet.
The changes come as Barnet’s new Leader, Cllr. Richard Cornelius, puts together a team to face the challenges of the future.
Cllr. Tom Davey will join as Member for the new Housing Portfolio, having previously been Assistant Cabinet Member for Children. The Member for Hale ward, elected in 2008, will take on the post which previously formed part of the Planning, Housing and Regeneration brief.
In addition, the Safety and Resident Engagementmantle will be taken up by High Barnet Councillor David Longstaff, who has already earned his stripes as Chairman of Chipping Barnet Environment following his election to the last year. The move means East Barnet’s Cllr. Joanna Tambourides takes over Planning.
“It is important to continually review Cabinet and to keep all Group Members on board with its decisions”, said Council Leader Cllr. Richard Cornelius. “I believe I have put together a team who will enable Barnet and its residents to face the tough challenges ahead.”
The new Cabinet was ratified at the Special Council meeting on 15 June.
Richard added: “I am determined that Barnet helps deliver better services for less of our residents’ money. The new Cabinet will, I believe, work effectively with other Members and officers in helping us to achieve that.”
